This album started Céline Dion's new look, new sound, new team of writers and producers and new record company (first release under CBS Records, a company which was purchased by Sony later that year and christened Sony Music Entertainment in 1991).[1] Most songs were written by Eddy Marnay, with two written by French-Canadian lyricist Luc Plamondon - Dion's later collaborator. One of album's producers, Jean-Alain Roussel has worked with many notable artists including Joan Armatrading, Olivia Newton-John, Cat Stevens and Elkie Brooks. Other tracks were produced by Pierre Bazinet and Aldo Nova. The latter worked with Dion on many future French and English songs.
The album was awarded with a double platinum certification for over 200,000 copies sold in Canada. Dion received also another four Félix Awards. Quebec saw six top 10 single releases from that longplay: "On traverse un miroir" (number 2), "Incognito" (number 1), "Lolita (trop jeune pour aimer)" (number 1), "Comme un cœur froid" (number 1), "Délivre-moi" (number 4) and "D'abord, c'est quoi l'amour?" (number 1). "Délivre-moi" was a French cover of Elizabeth Daily's "Love in the Shadows."
An English version of "Partout je te vois," called "Have a Heart" appeared on Dion's 1990 album Unison.
Incognito with different tracklist, came out in France on October 3, 1988. It included "Ne partez pas sans moi," which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 and "Ma chambre." Both tracks appeared as B-sides to the singles released in Canada. Incognito was re-released in France in 1992 with the Canadian tracklist.
"Jours de fièvre" was released as a single in Denmark in 1988.
Céline Dion toured Quebec in 1988 with her Incognito tournée.
Incognito peaked at number 65 in Belgium Wallonia on November 11, 1995 (eight years after its initial release).
